How to earn Social Economic Development points with Community Assisting Schools

CAS is a Section 21 company – PBO 093 034 222 –  that is eligible under the BBBEE Codes of Good Practice, for companies to earn from 5 to 25 points on their BBBEE Scorecard for Socio-economic Development, depending on whether they are Generic Enterprises or Qualifying Small Enterprises.

With respect to allocation of a company’s Corporate Social Investment strategies, The Corporate Social Investment Handbook 2011 (Trialogue) showed that Education remains a key sector for investment by contributing companies.  HOWEVER, investment in early education through to secondary education attracts much less funding than tertiary, etc. education.  Given that early learning and development is critical to a society’s literacy and to its’ ability to become viably active within the economy over time, we believe that CAS’s emphasis on developing schools, the learners and the staff of these institutions is likely to deliver greater amounts of success.

Investment in CAS will be directly used to develop schools, educators and learners and the donor will be eligible to claim Socio-economic Development points. Importantly, 100% of all donations/funding goes directly to the various projects as CAS is an organization made up entirely of volunteers.

CAS acts as a facilitator to its beneficiaries. BBBEE audit agencies will have a clear line of sight to identify beneficiaries and their empowerment credentials.

Proof for rating agency:

  1. A letter from CAS outlining how the funding has been used along with supporting evidence where appropriate.
  2. An affidavit from the beneficiaries – in this case – the schools which we are working with.
